The government has announced a package of measures to enforce the National Minimum Wage (NMW), and National Living Wage (NLW) from its introduction next year. Immigration Bill
The aim of this bill is to prevent illegal working, crack down on the exploitation of low-skilled migrant workers, and reduce net migration. On illegal working, employers are to be informed when employees’ visas expire, so they will have no defence if they continue to employ such individuals and could face a penalty of up to £20,000.
